Delhi faces extreme heat: Temperature to stay above 40 degrees Celsius

The India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.

New Delhi: These days, due to the increase in temperature, not only the days but also the nights are becoming hot. The temperature is expected to rise further from next week. The weather in Delhi is expected to remain mostly hot and dry between April 20 and 25. During this period, the maximum temperature will be around 40 to 43 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be between 20 to 24 degrees Celsius. 

What did IMD say?

The India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. Most parts of northern and western India are experiencing intense heat these days. Meanwhile, another western disturbance is bringing relief in two days.

According to the Shimla Meteorological Department, temperatures dropped in Jammu and Kashmir, with fresh snowfall in the higher elevations and rain in the plains. A Western Disturbance is expected to bring rain to the central and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh on Monday, bringing relief.

What about weather condition in Delhi?

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in the national capital settled at 40.1 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees above the season's average. The minimum temperature remained steady at 21.7 degrees Celsius, 0.1 degrees below the season's average, it said.

The weather department has predicted mainly clear skies on Monday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to reach 41 and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Heat wave-like conditions in several districts of Uttar Pradesh?

Several cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Sultanpur, Agra, Barabanki, Bahraich, Shahjahanpur and Hardoi, recorded temperatures well above normal on Sunday, indicating the onset of heat wave conditions.

Prayagraj recorded a maximum temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Varanasi at 44.2 degrees Celsius and Banda at 43.6 degrees Celsius. Several other districts, including Sultanpur, Barabanki and Bahraich, also recorded temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius.
